The HD4 Early Tonnes project is located at RTIO Hope Downs 4 Mine Site, 40km west from the town of Newman in Western Australia. The HD4 Early Tonnes project comprises the construction of earthworks, civil and water infrastructure to enable ore mining of A4 and TXE deposits.
The project area to provide LiDAR aerial mapping surveys is a combination of brown & green fields with unsealed access tracks, concrete, structures, piping and dense vegetation. The aerial mapping survey area covers predominately the A4 and TXE Deposits, approximately 10,000 Ha.
Certero Surveys was engaged by Rio Tinto – Sustaining Capital to fly the areas of interest to capture topographic data to support the PFS and concept design of the HD4 Early Tonnes project.
The primary data capture was completed with a DJI M350 RTK & DJI Zenmuse L2 LiDAR sensor, capturing RGB imagery & point cloud of the site. The aerial point cloud and imagery was processed to derive an accurate 3D ground profile (50mm vertical accuracy) and orthomosaic of site using LiDAR and photogrammetric procedures.
